Voice Acting in Guild Wars 2
Hmm...I've been wondering. Since GW2 is introducing new races what do you guys think the other races sounds like when they talk ? Here are some my speculations :
Human - Typical male/female VA from GW1.
Sylvari - Male : soft-spoken noblemen with a hint of arrogance (something like Legolas ala LOTR)
Sylvari - Female : Princess like or cat girl like , someone with high curiocity (Danika...lol )
Asura - Skweeky sounding midgets where male have lower pitch and female at a higher pitch. (Chipmunks comes in to mind)
Charrs - Male : typical monster-who-can-talk voice (garrr...)
Charrs - Female : Evil witches (If there are male and female differences)
Norn - Male : Conan/Terminator + Highlander (?) , someone with a russian accent or maybe scottish accent
Norn - Female : Warrior princess/queen , slightly deeper voice than human female
What I would really like to see is voice selection when you create you characters. (Who knows...if Anet wish to cut down on cost all races might sound the same as typical human male/female...lol )

I was going to ignore this for I don't really have an opinion on the voices until I saw what you thought the Asura voice should be like.
I REALLY hope they don't make the Asura sound like the chipmunks or high pitched. It would seem too cliche to have a high pitched voice for a small creature.
I would like to see a baritone or low-mid tenor type of voice used for the Asura.

id rather the only voice acting to be main story characters while the hero ( your character) would remain silent

I always wanted to choose the voice my character had.
The Factions voice was too grisly, the Nightfall one was too... I dunno, North American? Being able to choose what accent and general voice sound would be cool but I guess that isn't ever going to happen, as it would require too many voice actors.

I'd like my character to speak with Peter Cullen (Transformers! >_<) voice...
I'd enter every area and start with "Transform and roll out" ;x

Description: "young race of nature spirits, Sylvari are beings of light, as yet uncorrupted by knowledge of sorrow, suspicion, or hatred."
Talk about a fun race to role-play!
Sylvari should sound musical, their voice should not sound "human" at all, and certainly not sound arrogant! If anything, they should talk like children, asking lots of questions, and be full of wonder at the world.

I agree with Jaythen Tyradel, a low deep voice would contrast with their size, and add to the idea they are from the underground depths of Tyria. A high, squeaky voice would be most annoying!

Not sure what a "witch" sounds like ("I'll get you my pretty! And your little Asura, too!") ? No, if anyone should sound "cat-like" it would be the Charr. Huh, have we ever heard a Charr speak in Guild Wars? I can't remember.

Well, they're based on Vikings / Norse Storm Giants. Thunderous voices seem... obvious. I hope they don't have a recognizeable accent. I'm thinking of a voice like Treebeard's (done by John Rhys Davies), would work well. I hope Anet does something original, and we don't get a "By Crom!" Arnold voice.

Awesome idea. At least a general choice based on race and sex (maybe 3 choices?).

were you playing male? I'm not sure about female, but the guy who did the voices for factions was Steven Blum, and he rules, remember whats his face... uhh the guy who sacrificed the chosen on the blood stone? That badass same voice actor just with more feeling into the story.
nightfall, i agree with you, the whisp of the voice and just plain accent was way too stereotypical american that can't pronouce things right (like myself lol)
I really hope they get Steven Blum back on it somewhere, because without a voice like him, most stories miss some kind of fantasy piece. and God FORBID we have the actor from danika anytime soon lolol!

If there was a main character who speaks like this, I would be seriously annoyed and consider trying to find out how much physical resistance my speakers have against hammer damage.

The voice acting and dialogue in GW1 (all three campaigns) is so terrible that I have come to not expect much from any GW-related voice acting.
My only hopes are that its characters sound real instead of like crappy American voice actors who are trying too hard and that the dialogue actually carries substance instead of sounding like a twelve year old wrote it in one draft.
I've read mention of a new system for the visuals in cinematics... hopefully the ante is upped for the audio as well.

I rather imagine them with a deep, low (threatening) general tone, with conspiracious (does this word even exist?) and megalomaniac high overtones occasionally spread in. So instead of getting louder when excited, they'd get "higher" in voice.
